'A portrait of my children, once a week, every week, in 2014'

Mare: having a Marilyn Monroe moment with our vacuum cleaner
Morris: sleeping like a log, didn't even notice me jumping around on his bed to take his picture

Picking the pictures that tell a story instead of the pretty ones. Difficult for a perfectionist like me. Mare sitting in the car, with her beaming blue eyes. Morris and Mare playing around with sticks in the park. Soft light, pretty depth of field. But I didn't pick those pictures. Nope. So this week we see Mare channeling her inner Marilyn. Making her hair dance by keeping her head above our vacuum cleaner. And my boy Morris, looking so little and fragile while sleeping. I love that this project lets me treasure moments like these (to compensate for the tantrums during the day).

Last week Barbara mentioned that she chose my pictures as one of her favorites. Yay! I love the idea of choosing a couple of favorites from all the entries at Practising Simplicity, so here goes! My favorites from last week: Penny at the parking garage: I love how something so mundane as a garage can turn into something magical: gorgeous light in these pictures! | Such a dreamy and peaceful portrait at Malt Memories: love the touch of pink! | Over at Chair and Chair I spotted this soft and moody picture. A precious moment. | And last but not least: these pictures over at Lamb loves fox make my jaw drop every. single. time. Love everything about it: the use of negative space, the mood, the light. Perfection!
