Morris: reading at the neighbours' doorstep 

Mare: she always avoided the slide, but all of a sudden she wants to go over and over again

Veel Kodakmomenten deze week en een hoop middelmatige foto's. Of het lukte me simpelweg niet om mooie foto's te maken, omdat ik het te druk had om de kinderen überhaupt bij me te houden (twee kinderen, één moeder en een dierentuin: een vermoeiende combinatie) of omdat ik de camera niet bij me had. Morris met een glimlach van oor tot oor in het zwembad, Mare in prachtig licht bij Khotinsky. Niet vastgelegd want ik moest zo nodig zwemmen, kletsen en taart eten in plaats van fotograferen. Ook heerlijk, maar stiekem knaagde het toch dat ik dat stomme ding niet bij me had. Dus de rest van de week op jacht naar dé foto om die gemiste kansen goed te maken. Dat werkt dus niet. Uiteindelijk viel mijn keus op twee kiekjes bij ons in de straat genomen. Morris die een boekje leest op het stoepje van de buren en Mare die eindelijk de glijbaan heeft ontdekt. De schoonheid van het alledaagse.

A lot of great photo opportunities, but I struggled to get that one special picture. Because I didn't manage to take any decent pictures while running after the kids at the zoo. Two little ones, one mumma and the zoo is a tiresome combination, I can tell you that. Or because I just didn't bring my camera. So no pics of Morris having tremendous fun at our local swimming pool. No pics of Mare in divine (yes really) light at the local cafe. Nope. I was to busy swimming, talking and eating cake. Living life. But boy did I regret not bringing my camera to capture those moments. So I tried really, really hard to take an even better picture than the ones that got away. Didn't work. When I have something in mind I want to photograph, it's quite hard to live up to my own expectations. At the end of the day, the pictures that just 'happen' are often the best. So this week I present Morris reading at our neighbours' doorstep and Mare who finally enjoys the slide, after avoiding it for whole her life.
